AUGUSTA, GA – The Augusta women's basketball team opened Peach Belt Conference play with an impressive 72-50 win over USC Beaufort on Saturday afternoon at home. With the victory, Augusta improves to 6-2 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.

The Jaguars came out strong, building a 23-15 lead in the first quarter behind hot shooting from Quinasia Abercrombie and Mone Florence. Augusta maintained its defensive pressure throughout the game, forcing 33 turnovers and converting them into 38 points.

USC Beaufort made a brief run in the second quarter, narrowing the lead to four, but Augusta closed the half up 35-28. The Jaguars pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Sand Sharks 16-12 in the third quarter and 21-10 in the fourth to seal the win. Four different AU players were in double figures. 

Key Performers for Augusta:

• Quinasia Abercrombie: Led all scorers with 19 points, adding 10 rebounds for a double-double. She shot 7-12 from the field and 2-3 from three-point range.
• Mone Florence: Recorded 12 points, 5 steals, and 3 assists while playing 36 minutes.
• Autumn Phillips: Posted 12 points, 5 steals, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds.
• Je'Bria Fullwood: Scored 10 points and added 2 rebounds and 2 assists.

Augusta dominated in the paint with 42 points and grabbed 17 second-chance points off 18 offensive rebounds. The Jaguars' bench also contributed 13 points in the win.
