BELMONT, NC – Augusta University men's tennis split two matches with Belmont Abbey on the road Tuesday. After dropping a close 4-3 match to the Crusaders, Augusta immediately answered with a 4-2 victory over the home team.
Augusta is now 5-4 overall while Belmont Abbey moves to 8-7. Augusta will host Emmanuel on Friday, Feb 23 at 1:00 pm at Newman Tennis Center.
In the first match, AU started 1-0 after winning the doubles point.
Alexis Bailhache and
Enzo Garutti and the duo of
Herick Isago and
Arthur Valette both took down their opponents 6-3.
All singles matches were closely contested.
Herick Isago defeated Tim Stemler 7-6, 7-5 and
Elie Azoulay defeated Zak Vince 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 for the only AU singles wins.
The second match of the day started much like the first, with AU holding the lead after doubles play. Garutti, Isago, and
Quentin Cano Perez all took two-set victories at the No. 1, 2, and 3 singles slots to secure the 4-3 Jaguar victory.
