AUGUSTA, GA- Autumn Phillips scored 21 points and
Tomiyah Alford scored 20 points in Augusta's 65-51 win over Columbus State in the annual Cancer Awareness Game. Augusta is currently atop the Peach Belt Conference standings along with Georgia Southwestern and Lander.
Next up, the Jaguars will travel to Morrow, GA to take on Clayton State on Wednesday, Feb 7.

Tomiyah Alford was recognized for scoring her 1,000
th career point in Wednesday's win over Georgia College.

Augusta got off to an uncharacteristically slow start, only shooting 28% from the field and scoring 13 points in the first quarter. The offensive struggles continued in the second quarter. Columbus State opened up a nine-point lead and held Augusta scoreless for almost six minutes. A three-pointer from Phillips in the final minute pushed the score to 20-26 at halftime.
An 'and-one' bucket from
Kennedi Manning opened AU scoring in the second half and sparked a 9-0 Augusta run over the next four minutes. Knotted 40-40 at the end of the third quarter, the Jaguar offense started clicking early in the fourth, pushing the lead to 14 points and capping a 65-51 victory.
In addition to her game-high 21 points, Phillips also carded two steals, five rebounds, two assists, and a block. Alford turned in four rebounds and three steals. Manning had 10 points and eight rebounds.
Je'Bria Fullwood added seven rebounds.
