Americus, GA – Playing without starting guard Autumn Phillips, the Augusta women's basketball team secured a 74-61 victory over Georgia Southwestern on Saturday evening at the Storm Dome. The Jaguars improve to 16-7 overall and 8-5 in Peach Belt Conference play, while the Hurricanes drop to 11-10 and 7-6 in league action.

Augusta found themselves in a tight battle early, trailing 20-17 after the first quarter. However, the Jaguars' defense tightened up in the second half, holding Georgia Southwestern to just 28 points after the break. A dominant fourth quarter, where Augusta outscored the Hurricanes 25-13, sealed the victory.
Quinasia Abercrombie led the way with 18 points on an efficient 8-of-11 shooting while adding six rebounds and four steals. Mone Florence provided a balanced effort, finishing with 16 points, three rebounds, and six clutch free throws. Amari Jackson added nine points, while Yamani Paul chipped in 11 points and four rebounds off the bench. Tyasia Freeman and Sierra Burns each contributed seven points, with Burns knocking down a crucial three-pointer in the fourth quarter.
Augusta's defensive intensity forced 20 turnovers, converting them into 23 points. The Jaguars also capitalized at the free-throw line, shooting 85% while limiting Georgia Southwestern to just one made three-pointer all night.
