AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's tennis team earned a dominant 4-0 victory over Emmanuel University on Tuesday afternoon at the Newman Tennis Center. The win improves the Jaguars to 10-5 on the season.
Augusta opened the match by securing the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Priscilla Landi and Julieta Palma teamed up for a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Camila Taborga and Giovanna Patrocinio matched that result at No. 3. The No. 1 doubles match featuring Andrea Gonzalez and Juliana Martinez was left unfinished with Augusta leading 4-3.
In singles play, Augusta claimed three straight-set victories to clinch the team win. Luciana Bejarano earned a 6-2 win at No. 3 singles, Taborga rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5, and Patrocinio dropped just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6.
The remaining singles matches were left unfinished with Augusta leading or tied: Gonzalez was even at 1-1 at No. 1, Martinez held a 6-4 edge at No. 2, and Landi trailed 4-6 at No. 4 when the match was called.
With the win, Augusta improves to 10-5 on the year and will return to action on Thursday, March 27, when they host the University of Montevallo at 12:00 p.m. at the Newman Tennis Center.
