AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta women's basketball placed three student-athletes on the 2024-25 Peach Belt Conference Team of Academic Distinction, presented by Barnes & Noble College. Graduate student Tyasia Freeman, senior Brianna Meekins, and senior Nyaneit Puok were among the student-athletes honored across the league for their academic excellence and athletic impact.

Freeman, from Waynesboro, Ga., is pursuing a Master of Kinesiology and holds a 3.83 GPA. Meekins, a Health Services major from Bridgeport, Conn., owns a 3.54 GPA, while Puok, a Kinesiology major from Des Moines, Iowa, carries a 3.58 GPA.

All three played key roles in Augusta's historic 2024-25 campaign, helping the Jaguars to their second consecutive 21-win season—something the program hadn't achieved since 1993. Augusta also spent another season inside the NCAA national top 25 rankings and continued to establish itself as one of the premier defensive teams in Division II. The Jaguars finished fifth nationally in three-point field goal percentage and led the Peach Belt Conference in scoring defense. They also ranked second in the league in steals per game.

To be eligible for the PBC Team of Academic Distinction, student-athletes must compete in at least half of their team's contests as a starter or significant contributor, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and have completed at least one academic year at their current institution with sophomore athletic eligibility. The program is overseen by the league's sports information directors and celebrates excellence in both the classroom and competition.
