Augusta, Ga. - It's been a successful spring season for the Augusta University women's golf team to this point with four straight top five finishes. Now, the Jaguars get to host the annual Valspar Augusta Invitational March 14 and 15 at Forest Hills Golf Club. There will be 17 teams competing as play gets underway on Saturday. 

For Augusta, they are certainly riding a wave of momentum. 

"I think it's really exciting," said interim head coach Alison Crenshaw. "They have a lot of positive momentum and high spirits and now they get to go out and play on the course they are most familiar with."

With the same six players competing in each event, this team is as close as one would expect. Crenshaw said that alone, can make a big difference in the success of a team.

"This is a really close knit team. It's one of the perks of being a small team this year is that everyone is able to travel and everyone gets along. So just having six girls, close friends, having fun - it's done a lot for them on the course," said Crenshaw.

This year marks the 20th Valspar Augusta Invitational with Georgia Southern winning the team title a year ago.
