DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's tennis team opened Peach Belt Conference play on Tuesday afternoon, falling 7-0 to No. 7 North Georgia.
The Nighthawks secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Maria Gento and Andrea Gonzalez fell 6-3, while Julieta Palma and Priscilla Landi dropped a 6-2 decision. The No. 3 doubles match featuring Giovanna Patrocinio and Camila Taborga was left unfinished.
In singles play, Maria Gento fell 6-1, 6-3, while Andrea Gonzalez dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision. Luciana Bejarano battled in the first set before falling 7-5, 6-0, and Priscilla Landi lost 6-1, 6-1.
Camila Taborga fell 6-3, 6-1, and Giovanna Patrocinio dropped a 6-2, 6-4 decision to round out singles play.
Augusta returns home for its next match on Friday, March 27 at 2:00 p.m.
