HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The No. 30 Augusta University men's tennis team delivered a strong performance Wednesday afternoon, defeating No. 12 Assumption 4-0 in a neutral-site match in Hilton Head.

The Jaguars opened the match by securing the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Alejandro Carbonell and Humberto Pinto earned a 7-5 victory at the top spot, while Alexis Bailhache and Tommy Matsumine followed with a 7-5 win at No. 3. Assumption claimed the No. 2 doubles match.

Augusta carried that momentum into singles play, picking up three straight-set victories to clinch the match. Arthur Valette rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, Humberto Pinto earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 5, and Enzo Sakiyama closed out the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6.

Several other matches were left unfinished once the Jaguars secured the fourth point. David Perret was leading in his match at No. 1 singles, while Bailhache and Carbonell were also in progress on courts three and four.

Next up: Augusta returns home to host Auburn University Montgomery on Saturday, March 7 at 1:00 p.m. at the Newman Tennis Center.
