CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Augusta University men's cross country team finished fourth among Division II programs and eighth overall in the 25-team field Friday at the Queen City Invitational.
Augusta totaled 243 points, with Division I programs Charlotte, North Florida, Marshall and Elon accounting for four of the seven teams ahead of the Jaguars. Augusta also finished ahead of Peach Belt Conference opponents Georgia College, USC Aiken and USC Beaufort.
The Jaguars ran as a tight pack, with just 28 seconds separating Augusta's five scoring runners.
Senior Mateo Fesslmeier led Augusta in the 8K, finishing 50th overall in 26:38.5. Sam Segrist was close behind in 52nd with a time of 26:42.2, while Connor Mumford crossed in 26:53.7.
Freshman Alex Sotomayor Perez finished in 27:03.0, and Francisco Palacios rounded out Augusta's scoring five in 27:06.8.
John Goodwin finished in 27:12.6, followed by Seth Eye in 27:14.7, Elijah Fitts in 27:21.0 and Austin Chrouch in 27:26.8. Luke Brand crossed in 27:45.9, Ryder Garrett in 27:54.3 and Camden Coker in 27:56.9.
David Garcia finished in 29:22.6, followed by Carter Dehnke in 29:25.8, Nathan Henning in 29:29.3, Benjamin Hall in 29:43.9 and Marshall Bray in 30:07.2.
