In 2025, Coach Burgamy earned his third PBC Cross Country Men's Coach of the Year award after guiding Augusta to a Peach Belt Conference record-tying sixth consecutive team title. Jaynes continued to shine under Burgamy’s leadership, making history as Augusta’s first NCAA Track & Field All-American after earning a podium finish at the NCAA National Championships in Pueblo, Colorado.

Burgamy received his second consecutive PBC Cross Country Men's Coach of the Year honor in 2023 after leading the team to its fifth consecutive PBC title. Eight men's cross country runners were finished in the top 15 at the PBC Cross Country Championships and were named All-Conference. After a second-place finish at the NCAA DII Southeasdt Regional, Burgamy led his team to a 15th-place finish at the NCAA National Championships in Joplin, Missouri - the program's second highest finish in history. In 2022, Burgamy was selected as the Peach Belt Conference's Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year as the team won their fourth consecutive league title. Burgamy's squad turned in a perfect team score of 15, taking the top five scoring places and sending the first six runners across the line. He coached the PBC Runner of the Year, Patrick Motes, and repeat PBC Individual Champion Kai Brickey. The team had seven members earn all-conference accolades. After finishing second on at the NCAA Southeast Regional, the team made an appearance at the NCAA National Championships in Seattle, Washington. The women's cross country team carded third at the PBC Championships and wrapped their season at the NCAA Southeast Regional. Both teams were named  2022 NCAA Division II All-Academic Teams by the USTFCCCA.

Burgamy came to Augusta after having spent the past few years coaching college athletes through his business 478 Athletics. This past season he coached for the Brentwood School, leading his teams to multiple school and state record performances.

Burgamy is a familiar face in Augusta. For his graduate season, he was a scoring member of the 2019 Augusta University Cross Country Team – the highest finishing team in program history. He ran under Ward while obtaining a master's degree in kinesiology with a minor in sport coaching.

During his first two years of college, he ran at Emmanuel College and finished third at the Cross Country National Championship meet. He then transferred to run at Campbell University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in exercise science.
