Brent McMillian was named Augusta University's fourth Director of Athletics on May 11, 2026, following a national search, and officially assumed the role on June 8, 2026.
A graduate of Greenbrier High School, McMillian attended Augusta University before earning his degree from the University of Tennessee. He returns to Augusta with more than 13 years of experience in collegiate athletics administration, fundraising, revenue generation, external relations and strategic leadership.
Prior to joining Augusta University, McMillian served as Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Engagement and Revenue Generation at Lipscomb University. During his nearly seven years with the Bisons, he provided leadership for all external and revenue-generating units while serving on the department's staff leadership council and overseeing six departmental budgets. He also served as the sport administrator for men's and women's golf, women's basketball, men's soccer and the cheer program.
Under his leadership, Lipscomb Athletics experienced significant growth, including a 26 percent increase in ticket sales, a 65 percent increase in corporate sponsorship revenue and a 73 percent increase in unique home broadcast viewership. McMillian also coordinated the department's first Giving Day campaign, which raised more than $100,000 in a single day to support a new fueling and nutrition center for student-athletes.
Before his time at Lipscomb, McMillian served as Assistant Athletic Director at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he was responsible for the development and growth of the annual athletics fund and served as the primary liaison between athletics and university advancement. He also spent three years as Director of Ticketing, helping increase gross ticket sales by 55 percent while managing season and single-game ticket operations across multiple sports.
As Director of Athletics at Augusta University, McMillian oversees a department that sponsors 15 intercollegiate sports, including nationally recognized men's and women's golf programs that compete at the Division I level in the West Coast Conference.
McMillian and his wife, Amber, have three children.
