David Hunt

David Hunt is in his 10th year as the Faculty Athletics Representative for AU. He is currently an Associate Professor of Sociology and has been at AU since 2009. His research interests are in the sociology of golf, online education, and social institutions.

Dr. Hunt currently teaches several courses including:

During his time at Augusta University, Hunt has served in a variety of leadership positions, including Vice-Chair and Chair of Faculty Athletics Representative Council of the Peach Belt Conference from 2015 to 2019 is currently serving in that role again. Dr. Hunt garnered the Augusta University Teaching Excellence Award for Online Teaching in 2017.

Prior to his time in Augusta, Hunt spent ten years teaching at the University of Southern Mississippi and three years at Northwestern University.

David Hunt earned a bachelor’s of science degree in sociology from Brigham Young University in 1988. In 1991, he earned his MS in Sociology at BYU before earning his PhD in Sociology from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1996.

Hunt resides in Evans with his wife - Cathy Hunt. The two have one daughter, three sons, and thirteen grandchildren.
