Jacob Topple was named the first Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in Augusta University Athletics history on July 1, 2025, marking the beginning of a new era in Jaguar sports performance. His appointment coincides with the opening of the Al & Yvette Harris Sports Performance Center, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to advancing athlete development across all programs.
Topple joined Augusta after serving as Assistant Sports Performance Coach at Western Carolina University. While with the Catamounts, he led strength and conditioning programs for baseball and men’s and women’s golf and stepped in as interim Head Sports Performance Coach for football during the 2023 season. In addition to his sport assignments, he played a key role in staff development, including creating a department-wide internship program.
Prior to his time at Western Carolina, Topple directed strength and conditioning efforts for all varsity and junior varsity teams at White Knoll High School and served as Assistant Director of Athletic Performance at Byrnes High School in South Carolina. His experience also includes training youth, collegiate, and professional athletes at Next Level Strength and Conditioning in New York.
Topple holds a Master of Science in Exercise Science and Wellness from Liberty University and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from The College at Brockport. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and holds additional certifications in first aid/CPR and nutrition.
In his role at Augusta, Topple leads all aspects of athletic performance training for the Jaguars’ 15 NCAA programs, with an emphasis on holistic student-athlete development and a commitment to building a culture of accountability, hard work, and excellence.
