AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State blanked Francis
Marion 3-0 Wednesday night at the Christenberry Fieldhouse in Peach
Belt Conference action. The Jags advance to 11-17 overall and 2-5
in the PBC, while the loss drops the Patriots to 18-6 overall, 4-2
in the PBC.
The Jags continued their undefeated run at home with three close
sets. With the third set being tied at 19 all, ASU closed the match
with a 6-0 point run.
Junior Jessica Howard posted a team-high .450 hitting percentage
with 11 kills and five total blocks for the Jags. Also aiding in
the win for the Jags was sophomore Dianna Meyer, who added nine
kills, while freshman Ashley Zappitell netted 29 assists. Junior
libero Lindsey Weider notched 18 digs.
Senior Jessica Lombardi led the Patriots with 13 kills and two
service aces. Senior setter Jenna Kaiser posted 29 assists, while
junior Jess O'Leary tallied 18 digs and two service aces.
The Jags are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 25, when they host
Catawba in a non-conference match. The match is slated to begin
following the conclusion of the USC Aiken vs. Catawba match.
