JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.
-- Augusta State split a pair of matches Saturday
afternoon in the second day of the Carson-Newman Labor Day
Tournament.
The Jaguars (2-2) fell 3-1 to Mount Olive before bouncing back with
a 3-1 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan.
Senior Amy Hunt paced the Jags with 14 kills and three service aces
and only one error, while junior Jessica Howard tallied 11 kills
against Mt. Olive.
In the second match against West Virginia Wesleyan, Howard led the
Jaguars with 16 kills and six blocks. Freshman Ashley Zappitell
notched 36 assists and junior Lindsey Weider added 19 digs.
The Jags return to play next weekend when they travel to
Charleston, W.Va., for the University of Charleston Invitational.
ASU faces off against Glenville State and Charleston (W. Va.) on
Friday, Sept. 5 at noon and 4 p.m., and then takes on Concord and
West Virginia State on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
