FLORENCE, S.C. --
Augusta State (7-11, 0-1) dropped their Peach Belt Conference
opener to Francis Marion in four games (25-6, 18-25, 26-24, 25-16),
on Friday night, Sept. 26.
Senior Amy Hunt led the Jaguars with 14 kills and nine digs, and
junior Jessica Howard added nine kills. Freshman setter Ashley
Zappitell had a double-double with 31 assists and 14 digs, while
junior libero Lindsey Weider recorded 16 digs.
Freshman Ashlyn Underhill led Francis Marion with a career-high 15
kills. Senior Jessica Lombardi had 14 kills, while freshman Amanda
Mitchell notched13 kills. Senior setter Jenna Kaiser handed out 43
assists, while sophomore libero Kelsie Deaton had a team-high 13
digs.
The Jaguars return to play Sat. Sept. 27, when they travel to
Pembroke, N.C., to play a pair of matches. The first at 12:00 p.m.
is a PBC match against UNC Pembroke, and the second is a
non-conference match against Chowan at 2:30 p.m.
