AUGUSTA, Ga. --
Augusta State extended its winning streak to six matches and its
Peach Belt Conference winning streak to four straight Saturday
afternoon with a 3-0 victory over Montevallo in Christenberry
Fieldhouse.
With the win, the Jaguars improved to 14-8 on the season and 5-4 in
the PBC in their first year under head coach Sharon Bonaventure.
The loss dropped the Falcons to 13-9 overall and 4-4 in the
league.
Senior Jessica Howard enjoyed a monster match, tallying 24 kills
and four blocks. Senior Lindsey Weider and sophomore Lagi Roberts
registered 13 and 11 digs, respectively, while sophomore setter
Ashley Zappitell racked up 36 assists. Roberts and junior Tara
Childress combined for 10 blocks.
Montevallo, in its first year as a member of the PBC, got 11 kills
each from Katie Johnson and Carson Anderson. Brittany Wilson netted
12 digs while Anna Garrison logged a match-high 46 assists.
ASU combined for a .351 hitting percentage and notched 23 blocks,
including 19 block assists.
The Jags host Armstrong Atlantic State in a key league matchup on
Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 7:00 p.m. in the CFH. ASU hosts Parent's
Weekend and a tri-match with Anderson and Converse on Saturday,
Oct. 17 at 1:00 p.m.
