PEMBROKE, N.C. -
Augusta State took down the UNC Pembroke Braves 3-1 in Peach Belt
Conference action on Tuesday in Pembroke, N.C. With the win, the
Jaguars improved to 17-9 on the year and 6-5 in the league, while
the loss dropped the Braves to 8-15 overall and 1-9 in the
conference.
Sophomore Lagi Roberts paced the Jags, posting a double-double with
12 kills and 14 digs. Senior Jessica Howard tallied a match-high 17
kills and seven total blocks, while sophomore setter Ashley
Zappitell recorded 44 assists. Senior Lindsey Weider notched 28
digs, and freshman Mandy Irizarry added 10 digs.
For the Braves, Tiara Anderson led the way by hitting .286 with a
team-high 11 kills, while Sam Smith notched nine kills. Sam Wylie
tallied 39 assists and Andrea Laza booked a match-high 30 digs.
The Jags return to play next weekend when they travel to Savannah,
Ga., for the Peach Belt Conference/Conference Carolinas crossover
tournament. ASU faces off against St. Andrews on Friday, Oct. 23 at
7 p.m., and then takes on Pfeiffer and King on Saturday, Oct. 24 at
11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
