MONTEVALLO, Ala.
--Augusta State picked up its second straight Peach Belt
Conference road win and third straight victory overall Saturday
afternoon, topping Montevallo 3-1 at BankTrust Arena.
With the win, the Jaguars improved to 11-8 on the season and 3-4 in
the PBC in their first year under head coach Sharon Bonaventure.
The loss dropped the Falcons to 11-9 overall and 2-3 in the
league.
Junior Tarah Childress led the ASU attack, registering a
season-high 15 kills and .400 hitting percentage. She also notched
a season-high 30 attacks and five blocks. Senior Jessica Howard
tallied 12 kills and seven blocks while freshman Mandy Irizarry
booked 10 kills and sophomore Lagi Roberts added nine kills.
Senior Lindsey Weider (28) and Roberts combined for 54 digs, while
sophomore setter Ashley Zappitell booked 46 assists, her
third-highest total of the season.
The Jags travel to Atlanta on Tuesday, Oct. 6 to take on
Clark-Atlanta at 6:00 p.m., and return to Christenberry Fieldhouse
to host UNC Pembroke in a PBC clash on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 7:00
p.m.
