AUGUSTA, Ga. -
Augusta State rallied for a dramatic 3-1 victory on Senior Night
over Peach Belt Conference rival USC Aiken Wednesday in
Christenberry Fieldhouse.
The Jaguars improved to 22-10 overall and 9-5 in the conference,
while USC Aiken dropped to 13-18 on the season and 5-8 in the PBC.
ASU is only one win away from matching the most wins in school
history, set in 1995.
Senior Jessica Howard paced the Jags with 22 kills and booked eight
total blocks. Junior Dianna Meyer tallied 10 kills, while sophomore
Lagi Roberts notched 16 digs. Senior Lindsey Weider booked 13 digs,
and sophomore Jessica Hanson had six total blocks. Sophomore setter
Ashley Zappitell netted 43 assists and posted three service
aces.
For the Pacers, Shannon Byers led the team with 13 kills, while
Jennifer Munoz notched nine kills. Lauren Cedeno posted a
match-high 46 assists, and Samantha Lukralle tallied a match-high
20 digs.
ASU closes out the regular season on Saturday afternoon when they
travel to Anderson, S.C., to take on Anderson in a non-conference
match at 4:00 p.m.
