AUGUSTA, Ga. --
Augusta State defeated Francis Marion 3-2 Tuesday night at the
Christenberry Fieldhouse in Peach Belt Conference action.
With the win, the Jags advanced to 8-5 on the year and 1-1 in the
conference, while the loss dropped the Patriots to 5-6 overall and
0-2 in the PBC.
Senior Jessica Howard paced the Jags, posting a double-double with
21 kills and 10 total blocks. Sophomore setter Ashley Zappitell
netted 31 assists and added four service aces. Also aiding in the
win for the Jags was junior Tarah Childress, who booked 13 kills
and added four block assists. Sophomore Lagi Roberts had 10 kills,
while sophomore Kristania Crawford added 20 assists. Senior Lindsey
Weider notched 14 digs.
For the Patriots, sophomore Ashlyn Underhill posted a double-double
with 14 kills and 14 digs. Sophomore Ashlee Crook also booked a
double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs, while senior Jess
O'Leary netted 30 assists. Junior libero Kelsie Deaton
tallied 24 digs and sophomore Hallie Legg added 23 assists.
The Jags are back in action tomorrow, Sept. 23, when they take on
Lander in a Peach Belt Conference match in Christenberry
Fieldhouse. The first serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
