Lander Tops Jags, 3-1

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State fell 3-1 to Lander in Peach Belt Conference action on Wednesday night in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

With the loss, the Jaguars dropped to 8-6 on the year and 1-2 in the conference, while the Bearcats improved to 9-4 overall and 2-2 in the PBC.

Sophomore Lagi Roberts led the Jags, posting a double-double with 17 kills and 12 digs. Senior Jessica Howard tallied 15 kills, while sophomore setter Ashley Zappitell booked 47 assists. Senior Lindsey Weider notched 25 digs and sophomore Tarah Childress added seven kills and six digs.

For the Bearcats, junior Melissa McCracken led the team with 13 kills and had two block solos. Senior Kendall Eayrs added 11 kills and two block solos, while junior setter Candace LaRocca posted 39 assists. Freshman Lindsey Everhart tallied 10 kills and freshman Chelsey Corgan had 23 digs.

ASU is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 25, when they travel to St. Augustine, Fla., to take on Flagler in a Peach Belt Conference match at 7:00 p.m.
