Pirates Down Jags

SAVANNAH, Ga. --Armstrong Atlantic State blanked Augusta State 3-0 in Peach Belt Conference action on Saturday in Savannah, Ga. With the loss, the Jaguars dropped to 8-8 on the year, while the win moves the Pirates to 11-4 overall.

Sophomore Lagi Roberts paced the Jags, posting a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore setter Ashley Zappitell recorded 20 assists, while senior Lindsey Weider tallied 12 digs. Senior Jessica Howard had a match-high three blocks.

For the Pirates, sophomore Torrie Bevolo led the way by hitting .308 with a team-high 11 kills, while freshman Kathrin Standhardinger notched nine kills. Freshman Kristin Standhardinger tallied 36 assists and sophomore Casey Howett booked a match-high 20 digs.

The Jags return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 29, when they take on Paine in a non-conference match at 6:00 p.m.
