ASU-Montevallo Matchup On National TV

AUGUSTA, Ga. - The CBS College Sports Network will televise the Montevallo at Augusta State men's basketball game live from Augusta, Ga., at noon on Feb. 13. The game is one of four men's basketball games carried nationally in a package with CBS Sports and NCAA Division II.

ASU's Feb. 13 Homecoming matchup with Peach Belt Conference newcomer Montevallo in Christenberry Fieldhouse will be televised live at 12:00 p.m. Eastern. The contest is part of an eight-game regular-season men's and women's basketball package with CBS College Sports Network. The schedule features two Saturdays of women's action, followed by four men's games in consecutive weeks and then two more women's games to wrap up the broadcast season.

"We appreciate the NCAA for the opportunity to showcase Augusta State, Montevallo and the Peach Belt Conference," said PBC Commissioner David Brunk. "This is a great opportunity to highlight Peach Belt men's basketball with two teams that have a history of excellence in an environment that will be absolutely electric with Augusta State's homecoming crowd in the stands."

The game will be the first PBC men's basketball game shown as part of the CBS package. The Peach Belt has had one women's game, Armstrong Atlantic State at Columbus State, televised in 2006. A USC Aiken men's basketball game was also carried over the CBS Sports website in 2007.

"It is a great honor to be chosen to play on national TV," said ASU head coach Dip Metress. "Hopefully, this will lead to continued exposure for our University and let people across the nation know about ASU and all that we have to offer. Our senior class is 51-4 in the last three-plus years in the friendly confines of Christenberry Fieldhouse and this will be great experience for our basketball program."

This is the fourth year of the television agreement between Division II and CBS College Sports Network. The contest can be viewed live locally in the Augusta area on Comcast cable system's Channel 735, while the game will be carried on Knology cable system's Channel 195. In Montevallo, the game can be seen on Leeds-Charter Communications channel 303 or on the Montevallo University cable system channel 49.

On Direct TV, CBS College Sports Network can be seen on Channel 613, while Dish Network carries CBS College Sports Network on Channel 152.

"Our partnership with CBS College Sports is another example of why our schools consider Division II as a membership destination," said Division II Vice President Mike Racy. "We are able to provide national exposure for the student-athletes and their institutions while also providing viewers a unique glimpse into the division and the way we balance academics and athletics excellence."

The basketball package supplements a six-game football broadcast series which begins August 27. The eight basketball games also continue a hallmark of the television initiative, which is to spread the exposure. The eight games represent eight different conference match-ups. The broadcasts will also be syndicated through regional sports networks and made available via broadband at www.NCAA.com.
