GREENWOOD, S.C. -- Augusta State dropped a pair of matches Friday in the Lander Crossover Tournament
In the first match, the Jaguars (12-13, 4-5 PBC) got off to a slow start against Lander and never recovered, falling 3-1 to the Bearcats in Peach Belt Conference action. Freshman Kristen Koch paced ASU with 12 kills and added three aces while junior setter Krystin Wahlig netted 32 assists. Freshman Alex Rohlfing booked a match-high 19 digs, freshman Collette Richards notched 15, Wahlig chipped in 11 and freshman Lauren Alverson had 10.
Lander (9-12, 2-7 PBC) got a team-high 18 kills from Hannah Dederick and Jessica Register pitched in 28 assists.
In the second match, the Jags dropped the first set to Lees-McRae, 25-22 before battling back to win the second set, 25-19. Rohlfing again paced ASU with 17 kills against just three errors. Wahlig carded 24 assists and Richards turned in 21 digs. Wahlig and Alverson also reached double figures in digs with 18 and 12, respectively.
Megan Epperson was the offensive leader for Lees-McRae (20-6) with 17 kills, Megan Mitchell booked 37 assists and Sariah Suryadevara ended the match with 26 digs.
ASU (12-14) returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 25 when they travel to USC Aiken to take on the Pacers in a 7:00 p.m., Peach Belt Conference match in the Convocation Center.
