AUGUSTA, Ga. – After falling behind two sets to one, Augusta State battled back and pulled out a 3-2 win over Francis Marion in a tightly-contested Peach Belt Conference battle Saturday at Christenberry Fieldhouse.
The win propels ASU to 11-12 overall, 3-4 in the conference, and a four-way tie for third place with UNC Pembroke, Montevallo, and USC Aiken. Francis Marion falls to 5-11 (1-5)."
The teams appeared evenly matched throughout, until at 6-6 in the final set, Collette Richards' serving and Alex Rohlfing's three kills spurred a 9-0 run to end the match in the Jags' favor. ASU hit .375 in the final frame, compared to .097 for the Patriots.
Rohlfing completed a double-double, firing 18 kills to go with 11 digs, while Kristin Koch hammered 16 kills to help lead the Jaguar attack.
Krystin Wahlig piled up 57 assists, Richards notched 31 digs, and
Chelsea Foster chipped in 14 digs.
Ashlee Crook had 16 kills, Nicole Bennett carded 35 assists, and Hallie Legg managed 27 digs for Francis Marion.
ASU takes a week off before hosting Montevallo on Monday, October 17 at 7 p.m.
