BRISTOL, Tenn. -- King College shot 58.3 percent in the second half Saturday night to erase a seven-point halftime deficit and claim a 66-61 non-conference home win over Augusta State in the Student Center Complex.
The loss was the third straight for the Jaguars, who dropped to 2-4 on the season. With the victory, the Tornado improved to 7-2.
Sophomore forward Harold Doby paced ASU with 14 points and added seven rebounds. Senior guard Tye Beal booked 13 points, freshman Devon Wright-Nelson had 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds in his Jaguar debut and O'Neal Armstrong managed 11 points. Junior forward Kelth Cameron chipped in six points and five boards off the bench.
ASU owned the rebounding battle 43-30 but shot just 33.9 percent for the game, including 30.0 percent in the second half. The Jags connected on just 4-of-22 3-point attempts (18.2 percent).
The contest featured six ties and six lead changes. ASU led by as many as seven just before the end of the opening half and the Tornado went up by 10 with 9:53 left in the game.
The Jags wrap up their six-game road trip on Wednesday, Dec. 14 when they travel to St. Augustine, Fla., for a Peach Belt Conference matchup with Flagler at 7:30 p.m.
