ASU Falls At No. 3 Lincoln Memorial

HARROGATE, Tenn. -- Augusta State fell 73-57 to Lincoln Memorial Monday night at Tex Turner Arena.

With the win, the third-ranked Railsplitters improved to a perfect 12-0 while the Jaguars slipped to 4-5 on the season. ASU also dropped to 22-10 all-time vs. nationally-ranked opponents under head coach Dip Metress.

Jaguar freshman guard Devonte Thomas scored a team-high 14 points while sophomore Harold Doby and freshman point guard D'Angelo Boyce netted 10 points and two assists each. Freshman forward Devon Wright-Nelson posted a team-best seven rebounds.

Cam Carden posted a game-high 17 points for LMU, while All-American Desmond Johnson had 15 points. Lorenza Ross and Brandon Armstrong notched 14 and 12 points, respectively.

The Jags grabbed an 18-15 lead at the 9:23 mark of the first half following a Thomas 3-pointer off a feed from senior guard Tye Beal. The Railsplitters then outscored ASU 18-4 the rest of the way as the Jags misfired on 10 of their last 11 field-goal attempts of the half.

LMU canned 10 3-pointers and shot 65.4 percent in the second half to offset the Jags' 52.2 percent shooting after the break. The Railsplitters led by as much as 23 over ASU with 4:42 left in the contest.

The Jags are off for the holidays until New Year's Eve when they host Mount Olive on Saturday, Dec. 31 at 4:00 p.m., in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
