AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Armstrong Atlantic State remained undefeated Saturday afternoon when the 19th-ranked Pirates swept Augusta State 3-0 (28-26, 25-13, 25-15) in a Peach Belt Conference match in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
The victory lifted the Pirates to 14-0 overall and 2-0 in the PBC, while ASU dropped to 6-10 and 1-3, respectively.
The first set turned into a seesaw battle before the Pirates came up with a block to close it out, 28-26.
Armstrong's attack percentage was .283, compared to .134 for the Jaguars; ASU opened the first set 15 kills and a .204 hitting percentage, but mustered only 16 kills in the final two sets.
Jessica Hanson, Alex Rohlfing, and Mandy Irizarry each led the team with six kills apiece. Setter Krystin Wahlig notched 24 assists and added three kills on seven attacks.
Freshman Collete Richards anchored the defense with 12 digs, while Meredith Berce and Rohlfing chipped in eight apiece. Kristin Koch posted three service aces and 2.5 blocks, and Paige Tuttle added two blocks.
Amanda Jones led the Pirates with 11 kills, while notched 14 digs and Ashley Seal had 31 assists.
ASU returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 27 when it hosts Anderson in a non-conference match at 7:00 p.m., in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
