CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Augusta State stepped out of conference play Wednesday night and picked up a 3-1 road victory over Queens.
With the victory, ASU snapped a six-match losing streak and improved to 8-9 overall. The Royals, who were playing in their home opener, dropped to 10-8.
Sophomore Kristen Koch paced the Jaguars with 12 kills and fellow sophomore Alex Rohlfing booked 11 putdowns of her own. Senior setter Krystin Wahlig (20) and sophomore setter Lauren Alverson (16) combined for 36 assists. Junior Andria Tagarelli tallied 14 digs, sophomore Collette Richards netted 13 digs and senior Mandy Irizarry notched 12 digs and added five kills. Freshman Leslye Barnett chipped in five kills as well and Alverson had a pair of service aces.
The Jags hit .139 as a team and combined for 48 kills on the evening. Official stats from Queens, including a boxscore of the match, will be available on Thursday.
ASU hosts Lander on Saturday, Oct. 6 in Christenberry Fieldhouse. First serve in the PBC matchup is slated for 3:00 p.m.
