AUGUSTA, Ga. – On Senior Night and in its final home game of the year, Augusta State held on down the stretch to make it 10 wins in a row at home over rival USC Aiken in a 58-53 Peach Belt Conference victory Wednesday night in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

The Jags improved to 15-9 overall, and 11-5 in the PBC. USC Aiken, which entered the game ranked No. 23 in the nation, fell to 17-6, 11-4 and had their East Division lead over ASU trimmed to one-half game.

The game went back-and-forth, as ASU entered the half with a 29-19 lead on the strength of Harold Doby's 10 points and a 44.8 percent shooting effort from the floor. The Jags continually attacked the interior, notching 18 points in the paint in the opening half.

But the Pacers roared back, finally taking the lead on Rick Alderman's layup with 10:07 left in the game, and building it to a 46-39 margin as ASU failed to score for nearly six minutes.

Tye Beal's trey sparked a 9-0 highlighted by four Doby points, and the lead kept switching sides as the clock wound down.

Up three with a minute to go, Travis Keels blocked Chase Holmes' jumper, and Doby followed with one of his own with 10 second on the clock to seal the win.

Doby led all scorers with 20 points, adding nine rebounds, two blocks, and two assists on the night. Devon Wright-Nelson, hampered by foul trouble throughout the game, chipped in 14 points and seven boards, while senior O'Neal Armstrong added nine with six assists. Travis Keels smacked four blocks as ASU totaled seven overall.

Alderman led the Pacers with 10 points as nine different players scored as least three points.

ASU made 15-of-20 free throws compared to just 9-of-15 for the Pacers on the night.

The Jags return to action at Lander Wednesday, February 22 in PBC action. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
