SAVANNAH, Ga. – Augusta State swept a pair of non-conference matches Saturday at the Armstrong Atlantic State Classic.
In their first match, the Jaguars blanked Catawba 3-0 behind 12 kills from sophomore Alex Rohlfing and nine kills and two blocks from fellow sophomore Kristen Koch. Senior Mandy Irizarry and Jenna Keeler notched seven kills each, while Irizarry chipped in five digs and Keeler tallied three blocks. Katie Beresford (six) and Leslye Barnett (four) combined for 10 kills. Senior setter Krystin Wahlig led the squad with 20 assists and sophomore Lauren Alverson netted 15 assists, while junior libero Andria Tagarelli recorded six digs.
ASU improved to 2-1 on the season with a 3-2 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne in the afternoon.
The Jags are back in action next weekend when they take on Palm Beach Atlantic and North Greenville on Friday, Sept. 7 at 3:00 and 5:00 p.m., respectively, in the USCA Invitational in Aiken, S.C.
