Francis Marion 3, GRU Augusta 0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-23)

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Jaguars women's volleyball team had their first Peach Belt Conference road test of the 2015 season on Wednesday night and the Jags fell in three straight sets to the Francis Marion Patriots in the Smith University Center.

The Jaguars moved to 7-3 overall and 1-2 in the Peach Belt with the loss, while the improved to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in the league.

Junior Rachel Windle and freshman Savanna Gonzales continued their offensive prowess from the outside-hitting position as the duo the Jags in kills. Windle recorded a team-high 12 and Gonzales added 11, while Windle notched six digs and was involved in five blocks. Senior Kailla Baptiste rallied off nine kills as well for the Jags.

Junior-libero Cat DeSilvester aced two serves and had 16 digs and senior Alyssa Latham led all competitors with 30 assists. Junior Jordan Bickett added seven kills, five digs, two blocks and an ace.

The Jags started with a slow offensive that produced the lowest attack percentage of the night at .057. They fell 25-21 in set one, but Jags kept it closer in the second and third set and forced seven lead changes.

The Patriots found themselves in a tie match five different times in the third and final set, but the Jaguars were not able to overcome a match point and ell 25-23 in the third and final for the shutout loss.

The Jags stay on the road for another PBC match on Friday, Sept. 25 at USC Aiken in the Convocation Center in Aiken, S.C., at 7:00 p.m.
