Box Score AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University volleyball team defeated Limestone by a 3-0 score Tuesday evening in a non-conference contest.
The Jaguars are now 10-2 on the year while the Saints fall to 3-5.
Augusta University was led by Nicolette Ramos, who had a match-high 17 kills. Ramos added 13 digs for a double-double. Kassie Till totaled 33 assists.
Defensively, Holland Martin posted a team-best 18 digs. Kylie Martin added 10 in the win. At the net, Nedu Evans had five total blocks while Martin chipped in four block assists.
Leading 14-12, Jessica Hedrick's kill started a 5-0 spurt by the home team. During the run, Nicolette Ramos had two kills while Kylie Martin finished the run with another point. The Jaguars held a 23-15 lead before back-to-back errors pushed Augusta University to the 25-15 win in the first set.
Up by three in the second frame, Madison Malloch slammed home a kill. Kylie Martin followed it up with an ace before two errors by the Saints made it 19-12. However, the visitors pulled within two at 20-18. The Jaguars quickly pounced on the visitors, tallying a kill from Ramos to extend the lead back to three. Ramos and Evans were in on a block before Ramos found the court again to make it 23-18. Moments later, Ramos ended the set with a kill for a 2-21 victory.
Trailing 7-3 in the third set, Augusta University embarked on a 9-0 run to take command of the set. The home squad propelled the 9-0 run into a 15-2 spurt for a commanding 18-9 lead, forcing a timeout by the visitors. Augusta University quickly ended the match with the 25-12 win.
The Jaguars return to action Saturday at Shorter. The match is slated to start at 2 p.m.
