AU Volleyball Wraps PBC/SAC Crossover

MILLEDGEVILLE, GA - The Augusta University Volleyball team won their first match of the day against Lincoln Memorial before falling in four sets to Carson Newman. After the loaded four match weekend, Augusta is 15-7 overall, 3-2 in the Peach Belt Conference.
 
GAME 1

In the first game of the second day of the PBC/SAC Crossover, AU and Lincoln Memorial battled for a full five sets. Augusta won the fifth and final set 15-9. The Jaguars came out to a fast start in the 1:00pm matchup, winning the first set 25-12 and the second set 26-24. Lincoln Memorial would answer with to narrow victories in the third set (25-23) and in the fourth (25-21).

The fifth set was point for-point-point until two back-to-back aces from Kylie Martin opened up an 8-4 led for the Jaguars. Two kills from Alyssa Dutton further extended the lead to 10-5 and the Jags would eventually take the match over the Railsplitters

Three Augusta players were in double digit kills during the afternoon match. Chloe Allen led with 13 kills and 13 digs. Alyssa Frazier added 12 kills and 2 blocks. Kylie Martin had 10 kills and 4 aces.
 
Defensively, Holland Martin led AU with 16 digs. Chloe Allen and Kiera Barr added 13 digs each.
 
Samantha Zittrauer and Ally Thees dished 22 and 21 assists respectively.
 
GAME 2
 
Augusta fell to Carson Newman in four sets in their final game of the tournament.

Chloe Allen led the way with 15 kills on only 30 swings. Kylie Martin had 12 kills and 5 digs. Alyssa Frazier had 9 kills and 3 blocks while Julie Archer added 7 kills. Holland Martin led the Jags with 16 digs and 4 assists. Samantha Zittrauer tallied 25 assists.
 
Julie Wheeler and Taylor Keeran both had 14 kills to lead Carson Neman. Blake Cherry collected a arch-high 17 digs.

The Jaguars return home to Christenberry Fieldhouse on Wednesday October 27th for a 6:00pm match against Shorter University. Live stats and video available on www.augustajags.com
