Box Score BOWIE, MD - The Augusta Jaguar Men's basketball team improved to 5-0 after a win in Bowie, MD. AU defeated the Bowie State Bulldogs 80-69 . Bowie State falls to 0-6 with the loss.
STANDOUTS
AU used a balanced scoring effort to defeat Bowie State on their home court.
Troy Cracknell led scoring for Augusta with 17 points. He pulled down four rebounds in addition.
Ja'Queze Kirby was a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, carding 11 of his 12 points in the first half.
Miguel Arnold matched his 12 points.
Darren Lucas-White drilled in 13 points while
Tyshaun Crawford had 10 points and led with 7 rebounds. .
Tyree Myers scored 9 points.
Bowie State was led by Quinton Drayton's 19 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Now familiar to Jaguar fans, Augusta opened scoring with a made 3-pointer by
Miguel Arnold 20 seconds into the game. The first 15 points for the Jags were all three-point buckets - three by
Miguel Arnold and two by
Ja'Queze Kirby.
Darren Lucas-White then went on a scoring run of his own, drilling the next 10 points for the visiting squad and putting the Jaguars up 25-15. Augusta would go to the locker room at halftime up 42-31.
In the second half, a 12-2 scoring run by the Bulldogs brought the bulldogs to within six points (69-63) with 3:38 left to play. A made layup by
Tyshaun Crawford put the Jaguar lead back at 10 with 1:21 left in regulation.
While Bowie State won the rebounding battle 37-33, the Jags led by as many as 20 points. AU was 27-for-52 (51.9%) from the field and 9-for-22 (40.9%) from the three-point range. The Jags were 17-for-26 from the charity stripe.
Augusta will play Claflin in its annual Education Game Day on Thursday December 2 at 5:30pm. **ADMISSION IS FREE TO ALL SPECTATORS**
