No. 8 Augusta Men's Hoops Remains Perfect Against College of Coastal Georgia

Augusta, Ga- The No. 8 ranked Augusta University men's basketball team remained perfect after winning a non-conference matchup against the visiting College of Coastal Georgia Mariners. With the win, Augusta remains one of twelve unbeaten teams in the country. The Jaguars improve to 8-0.

STANDOUTS


Miguel Arnold put up 25 points, hitting 7 threes and going 9-of-12 from the field. John Whitehead III added 15 points while Troy Cracknell scored 13 points. Tyshaun Crawford snatched 8 rebounds during his 22 minutes on the court. Tyree Myers dished 7 assists in the dominant Jaguar win. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
AU never trailed in the match, shooting 30-of-60 (50%) from the field and 16-of-31 (51.6%) from deep. The Jags scored 29 points off of 14 Coastal Georgia turnovers.
 
Six made 3-pointers by Miguel Arnold in the first half helped propel the Jaguars to a 21 point lead at the end of the first half. AU hit ten 3-point baskets in the first half of the game alone. Arnold currently ranks third in the county in made three-point field goals per game. As a team, Augusta is fifth in the country in three-point field goal percentage.
Another made three-point basket by John Whitehead III with 9:20 left to play in the second half gave Augusta a 37-point lead – its largest lead of the night. Augusta closed out its first Prostate Cancer Awareness Game 83-56.
 
Augusta stays home this Monday Dec 13th in Christenberry Fieldhouse for the Augusta City Classic vs Paine College at 7:30pm.
