Box Score ANDERSON, SC - The Augusta University Volleyball team defeated the host Anderson Trojans 3-2 in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.
Chloe Allen led the match with 15 kills.
Kylie Martin added 10 kills while fellow senior
Alyssa Frazier had 9.
Samantha Zittrauer dished out 18 assists while
Ally Thees had 13.
Defensively,
Holland Martin led Augusta with 22 digs.
Alexis Diaz-Infante added blocks defensively.
In the first set, Anderson battled the Augusta hard. Although Augusta led for most of the set, the Trojans tied the match up at 24-25 late. A kill by
Alexis Diaz-Infante followed by a kill by
Kylie Martin provided the first victory set to Augusta 26-24.
Anderson controlled the match in the second set, jumping out to a 12-6 lead with off of a kill by Sadie Kluner. Augusta struggled to find its footing in the second stanza, hitting a -.068 and scoring only 16 points.
With the match tied at one set apiece, Anderson again took an early advantage. The host squad went on an 11-3 run to take a 15-7 advantage midway through the set.
Alyssa Frazier pounded two consecutive kills followed by a service ace from
Samantha Zittrauer put Augusta within four. Anderson closed the set with three blocks to take Set 3 25-18.

AU set a different tone in the fourth set, taking a 3-1 lead to start. After knotting the game at 8-8,
Brooklyn Holthaus provided a much needed spark off the bench, immediately providing the Jags with a service ace. AU went on a 7-0 run to end the set and force a fifth and deciding set.

Holland Martin gave the Jags 4-0 advantage in the fifth set. Capitalizing on the momentum, a monstrous kill capped the fifth and deciding set.
The Jaguars will face Lenoir-Rhyne in the Region Championship match tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.
