PINEHURST, N.C.. – The Augusta University men's golf team concluded play in the opening two rounds of the Wake Forest Invitational Intercollegiate at Pinehurst #2 on Monday and are in 7th place at 29-over par.

The 11-team field battled the famed No. 2 course on the Pinehurst property, set at 7,125-yards and par-70. The format is 36 holes of continuous play on Monday and 18 holes Tuesday. Action got underway with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. ET.
Host Wake Forest has an 8 stroke lead at 3-under-par. North Carolina and Duke are in second and third, separated by one stroke at +5 and +6. NC State (+11) and Virginia (+21) sit in the fourth and fifth spots. Augusta is currently in 7th place at 29-over par.
Augusta started the tournament on Monday with a 289 and shot 300 in the second outing. The Jaguars are only 8 strokes outside of the top 5.
Ben van Wyk led Augusta in day one with an even par– the low score for AU through 36 holes.
Hampus Wijkstrom shot 71 (+1) and 76 (+6) and is 7-above par for a tie for 28th while Dan Sheehan shot 74 and 75 for 9-over. Alex van Wyk and Dawson Booth are tied for 52nd.
TOURNAMENT FIELD: Augusta, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Duke, NC State, Virginia, Furman, Boston College, East Carolina, Virginia Tech, and Davidson.
