Box Score Augusta, Ga. – The Augusta University Volleyball team defeated USC Aiken 4-1 Tuesday evening in a conference match. The Jaguars improve to 2-2. The Pacers move to 2-2 in the shortened Peach Belt schedule.
For the match, Augusta was led by Kylie Martin, who drove home 12 kills to go along with 10 digs. Chloe Allen had a dominant night, notching 8 kills with a .375 hitting percentage. Allen also added two service aces and 6 digs to her performance for the night. Holland Martin led the defense with 24 digs, while Alexis Diaz-Infante paced the Jaguars with 6 blocks in the contest.
The Jags opened up the match with a kill by Kylie Martin. Both squads would be evenly matched through the first 10 points. AU took a commanding 16-11 lead midway through the first set after another kill by Martin. The Pacers were plagued with errors in the first set, resulting in a 25-15 set 1 victory for the home team.
After battling through Set 2, two untimely errors allowed USC Aiken to even the score at one set a piece.
The Jags jumped out to an early 9-2 lead in set 3. A kill by Allie Smith brought the visiting squad within 3 points, but kills by Chloe Allen and Madison Malloch again extended the lead to 17-10. An 8-2 run for Aiken tied the set at 22-22, but a kill by Alyssa Frazier sealed the set.
Set 4 proved to be another back and forth affair. Another kill by Alyssa Frazier gave AU a narrow 12-11 lead. After taking the lead, the home team never relinquished it and won the match 3-1.
