GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Augusta University volleyball team defeated Lander on Saturday afternoon in a five set thriller. The Jaguars won 3-2 in Peach Belt Conference play in Greenwood.
Augusta is currently 4-2 while Lander falls to 1-4.
The Bearcats won 25-21 to start the match before Augusta answered with a 25-21 win in the second set. Lander answered with a narrow 25-23 win in set three before AU took a convincing 25-15 set 4. AU took the match 15-8 in the fifth and deciding set
AU's Chloe Allen led the offensive front with 14 kills while fellow middle Alexis Diaz-Infante added 12 kills of her own. Setter Brooklyn Holthaus recorded her first double-double of the season, notching 26 assists and 10 digs. Sophomore setter Samantha Zittrauer added 16 digs to go along with her own 21 assists.
Libero Holland Martin tallied 18 digs. Kiera Barr added 15 digs on the defensive front.
The Jaguars return to action on Friday March 26th to take on Flagler in Christenberry Fieldhouse at 6pm.
