CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Augusta University men's cross country team finished first in both of its races at the Queens Royals Invitational on Friday evening on the 8-kilometer McAlpine Freedom Park Course.

Kai Brickey followed in 12th (24:55.7), Hans Troyer in 14th (24:58.6), and Avery Jaynes in 15th (25:01.6). Thomas Rischar finished 24th (25:14.4), Andrew Todd 31st (25:27.8), and Carlos Rodriguez 38th (25:53.4)

"I was really pleased with how well both teams moved up in the second half of the race", said head coach Jacob Burgamy. We still have some things to work on in terms of being a little more aggressive, but I think this was a huge step forward from how we raced at Virginia Tech for both teams."

Augusta took home a first-place finish among the 28 teams in attendance, totaling 74 points.

In the 8k Blue Race, Augusta was dominant, carding 78 points and finishing a full 72 points ahead of the second-place Rio Grande.

Nasrudin Mohamed carded a 7th place finish (26:35.4) while Matthew Moore (26:50.3) and Kaleb Ellis (26:57.4) finished 12th and 16th respectively. Andrew Helfers finished 19th (27:13.5) and Benjamin Roberts finished 24th (27:22.2). Shahzeb Rashid (27:21.9) and Amir Dayal (27:52.6) rounded out the Augusta squad in 29th and 38th place.
