COLUMBIA, SC.- The Augusta University women's basketball team defeated Benedict on Tuesday evening to stay perfect for the season. Augusta (4-0) outscored the Tigers 60-29. The 4-0 start for Augusta is the best start for AU women's basketball since the 2012-2013 season.

Tomiyah Alford led the Jaguars offensively, carding 19 points. The sophomore was 8-for-12 from the field and added 4 rebounds and 3 steal for the evening.
Kennedi Manning turned in another double-double, her third in the last four games. The senior forward had 11 points to match 11 rebounds.
Augusta led 13-8 to close the first quarter after a steal, made layup, and two made free throws from Mone Florence. The Jaguars would hold another five point scoring advantage in the second quarter. Tomiyah Alford was 6-of-7 from the field and scored 13 of her 19 points in the first half.
AU extended the lead to as many as 11 points with 4:47 left to play in the third quarter. An 8-0 scoring run from the host Tigers brought the score to 28-24 with 1:45 left to play before Autumn Philips forced a Benedict turnover and helped push Augusta back to a double-figure lead to close the quarter. Benedict would shrink the lead to 51-47 after a three-pointer with 6:04 left in the game, but a late Jaguar offensive spurt pushed August to the 60-4 victory.
