AUGUSTA, Ga- Three Augusta University Women's basketball players registered double figures in a hard fought 75-70 loss to Wingate on Sunday afternoon. The Jags are now 4-1 while Wingate improves to 4-1 for the season.

The Jaguars took an early lead thanks to two three point shots  and a layup Autumn Phillips. Augusta got up 12-5 before the Bulldogs went on a 7-1 run to cut the lead to 1. Phillips again provided the answer, hitting another shot from beyond the arc with 52 seconds left in the first quarter to push a six point advantage. The second quarter was tightly contested, with neither team leading by more than six points. While Augusta held the lead for the entirety of the half, the Jags would go to the locker room at halftime with a narrow 39-38 lead.
After tying the game at 41, Wingate would nab its first lead off a layup from Jaia Wilson with 7:10 left in the period. The Bulldogs pushed the lead to 57-51. Yet another made three-pointer from Phillips cut the lead to three to open the fourth quarter, but the Bulldogs held fast for a 75-70 win in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
Autumn Phillips led all scoring with 24 points, hitting 6-of-9 from beyond the arc. Tomiyah Alford had 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals while Mone Florence had 10 points.
Kiera Howard led with 10 assists.
Kennedi Manning led the rebounding effort with 6 for the day.
