AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University softball team hosted the Francis Marion Patriots for a doubleheader on Saturday at Jaguar Field and won 10-5 in game one before winning 3-1 in game two
Augusta (5-3) carded 12 hits in the first game alone.
In game one, the Jags booked a run in the first inning off of a throw by the Patriots.
Kali Garrett hit a sacrifice fly in the inning to bring
Olivia Biles home. An RBI single by
Summer Frye rounded out scoring in the first inning. The fourth inning saw AU have an offensive spurt, scoring 4 runs in the inning. An error by FMU, a 2 RBI single by
Madelyn Libby, an RBI single from
Bailee Roberts, and an RBI single from
Kali Garrett brought the score to 8-1. A 3-run homer from Francis Marion's Karacson tightened the lead, but the Jags were able to close the game 10-5.
Mary Tillman was the game-one starter and recorded her fourth complete game to get the win. Tillman struck out 5 and allowed 7 hits for 5 runs.
Francis Marion struck first in game two on a sacrifice fly in the third inning. A single by
Bailee Roberts in the bottom of third pushed
Jakayla Sullivan home and evened the score. A two-run single by
Emma Seagrave in the sixth inning gave the Jags a 3-1 lead to sweep the day.
Maggie McBrayer tossed all 7 innings for AU, only allowing 2 hits and 1 run.
Augusta travel to Anderson on Sunday Feb 13 for two non-conference games on 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
