AUGUSTA Ga. – The Augusta University softball team (8-6) hosted the Queens Universitu Royals 6-6 Saturday afternoon at Jaguar field. The Jags would split the series, winning game one 4-1 before a game two loss 5-0.
Game One: Augusta 4 Queens 1
Augusta carded 7 hits to Queens' four in the opening game of the series.
The Jaguars got on the board first with two runs in the first inning.
Olivia Biles recorded an RBI on the first run on a double before scoring Augusta's second run on a single from
Lauren Evens.
Evens recorded her second RBI of the game in the third to put Augusta in front 3-1. The Jaguars final run would come in fifth on a home run from
Shelbie Summerlin.
Mary Tillman secured the win for the Jaguars after recording nine strikeouts in her complete game.
Game Two: Queens 5 Augusta 0
Queens would flip the script in game two recording seven hits to Augusta's four.
Olivia Biles,
Lauren Slade,
Summer Frye, and
Tori Pinner each carded a hit in the contest.
Maggie McBrayer started on the mound for Augusta and tosses all 7 innings.
Augusta will return to action on Tuesday Feb 22
nd when they travel to take on Newberry.
