COLUMBUS, Ga . – The Augusta University Jaguars lost a three game series to Columbus State by scores of 3-7, 5-13, and 0-7.
The Jaguars are now 12-2-on the season and 1-11 in PBC play. Columbus State improves to 16-14, 7-2 in PBC play.
Trailing 3-0 in the fifth,
Olivia Biles stole second and
Emma Seagrave stole home for a score.
Bailee Roberts reached on a fielding error and
Tori Pinner advanced to second and third on the throw.
Paige Patterson advanced to third and scored on a throwing error and
Olivia Biles scored on the same play. The Cougars added additional runs in the fifth to push the score to 7-3.
For the game,
Bailee Roberts,
Jakayla Sullivan, and
Kali Garrett each carded a hit.
I the circle,
Mary Tillman got the start and worked 4.2 innings. She had six strikeouts and 7 runs.
Maggie McBrayer tossed the final 1.1 innings.
In game two of the series,
Jakayla Sullivan scored off a ground out from
Bailee Roberts. Columbus State opened up an early lead after carding 2 runs in the first inning and 2 runs in the second. Columbus State exploded for 7 runs in the fourth inning and another two in the fifth when the game was called.
Mary Tillman got the start and
Maggie McBrayer also saw time on the mound.
Jakayla Sullivan led offensively, with 1 single, 1 RBI, and 2 runs.
The visitors plated a run in the fifth and seventh innings for a 5-1 edge.
For the final game of the series, the Jags were unable to recover from the five early runs pushed over the plate by Columbus State and fell 0-7.
Jakayla Sullivan notched Augusta's single hit for the game.
Lauren Evens started on the mound before
Mary Tillman and
Maggie McBrayer both pitched in relief.
The Jags will travel to Southern Wesleyan for a non-conference double header on Tuesday March 29 in Central, SC when they play Southern Wesleyan. First pitch is set for 3:00pm.
