ORANGEBURG, SC – The Augusta University baseball team swept the Claflin Panthers in PBC action in Orangeburg this past weekend. Augusta moves to 10-16, 3-9 in PBC play while Claflin falls to 1-14, 0-12 inside conference play.
Augusta is set to host a Tuesday game against Newberry on March 29
th at 2:00pm before taking on USC Aiken at SRP Park at 6:35pm on Thursday March 31. The Jaguars have a quick turnaround as they travel to Lander on Friday and Saturday April 1-2 for a 3 game series.
GAME 1
The Jaguars took a commanding lead late in the game to defeat the Panthers 13-2 in the opening game of the series. After scoring in the opening inning off of an error, AU went on to score nine runs in the fifth inning and another three in the sixth.
Mason Robertson,
Pat Galvin,
Walker Sinclair,
Harrison Aulds,
Jordan Wilkie, and
Connor Bullard all had RBIs in the nine-run fifth inning.
Walker Sinclair and
Jordan Wilkie led offensively, each carding 2 RBI and 2 runs.
Mason Bernard (1-4) got the win for Augusta. Bernard tossed six innings, striking out 7 batters and only allowing 4 hits.
Cotton Phillips also saw time on the mound.
GAME 2
The first game on Saturday proved to be a high-scoring affair. Augusta struck first when
Lukas Coker hit a single that score Mason Roberston.
A
Pat Galvin double in the third inning led to another single score. Another double by
Jordan Wilkie and a single from
Mason Robertson pushed the Augusta lead to 4. Claflin answered with three runs in the fourth.
The Jaguars answered with a single run off a double from
Kyle LaRoche in the fifth inning before scoring another four in the sixth. Augusta tacked on another four in the eighth inning.
Claflin made a valiant effort to shrink the lead, carding five suns on the final two innings, but fell 13-8 to the visiting Jaguars.

Chase Horton (3-4) got the win for Augusta. Horton pitched 3.1 innings before
Britt Kelly and
Cotton Phillips both saw time on the mound.
GAME 3
For the third and final game of the series, steady offense put Augusta on top 10-6. The Jags scored in all but two innings in the seven inning game.
Augusta would take the lead for good in the third inning when
Jordan Wilkie singled on a 2-2 count, scoring three runs. Au had another big inning in the sixth, with both
Lukas Coker and
Harrison Aulds hitting RBIs.
Dominique Canale (1-4) got the win for Augusta striking out four batters in this four innings of work.
Eli McMullen and Myle Grove both saw time on the mound, pitching in relief.
