AUGUSTA, GA - The Augusta University baseball team lost a non-conference game against Anderson on Wednesday afternoon at Jaguar Field. .
Augusta is now 14-31 for the season and Anderson moves to 23-23.
Augusta started the game well, scoring four runs within the first two innings. Anderson answered with a triple and a bases loaded walk to put the score at 4-2 in the top of the fourth inning. A single from
Pat Galvin and a sac fly from
Walker Sinclair pushed the lead to 6-2. Anderson tacked on single runs in the fifth and sixth innings before a Sinclair double sent
Pat Galvin home.
Anderson would score a run off a solo homer in the seventh and explode for 8 runs in the 9
th inning against the home team. A bases loaded walk in the 9
th proved not enough and the Jaguars fell 13-8.
Augusta carded 14 hits to Anderson's 12.
Pat Galvin and
Ben Markiewicz both went 3-for-5 with 1 RBI.
Jordan Wilkie,
Harrison Aulds, and Charlie Erickson each turned in two hits.
Brian Trpanier started on the mound for AU. He tossed 3.0 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 run while striking out 5 batters.
Cotton Phillips came in to pitch in relief.
Britt Kelly (1-1) would end up taking the loss.
Augusta hosts Georgia College on for a three game series starting Friday at 3:00pm. The Augusta baseball Senior Day Recognition will be Saturday beginning at 12:40 prior to the first pitch at noon.
